Workshop

Primitive Fire Making

Primitief Vuur Maken

Explanation

On a central spot in the woods, you will get information about materials in the forest whith which you can make fire and the associated techniques. (No matches, no lighters). Then, we'll give a demonstration of fire making with the 'bow drill', flint stone and firesteel. During a hike, we'll encounter the firemakers at their natural locations. After that, you'll go into the woods yourself, looking for suitable materials to make your fire tools and to collect fuel. You will then learn various bushcraft knife cutting techniques you can use to build your bow drill set. After assembling your firekit, you can start your attempts to make fire yourself. Some participants will have the skill to actually make fire during the workshop. With virtually only material from nature! The euphoric (and justified) feeling going through you then, is a very beautiful thing to experience. Others will have a solid foundation to continue to practice at home with the skills. Of course you can take your homemade firekit home. After the workshop you will have at least the basics to independently keep on practising.
